Helen Davies trained at the School of Art in Hobart and has taught and exhibited in Tasmania. In 1986 she became a member of the Classification and Building Advisory Committee of the National Trust of Australia (Tasmania), moved into a James Bennell house and began researching his buildings in Launceston. For the Record was compiled and written over a twenty year period and contains more than 240 illustrations and photographs by the author.
